Our story

Designed and manufactured in Annecy, at the foot of Mont Blanc in the French Alps, the Klavier Roller story is, first and foremost, a story of family and of a passion for piano.

At the end of the 20th Century, Bernard Wintz, an electronic engineer with a passion for the arts, is also moonlighted as a genius inventor. His son Pascal is a distinguished pianist who performed in exceptional venues that often proved difficult to access with such an instrument. Stairs, bumpy terrain, slopes and uneven ground, delicate floors, historic monuments... in such circumstances, setting up a grand piano poses a serious challenge: it can be tedious, costly and even dangerous for technicians. Bernard Wintz, well-acquainted with this issue, dreamt up a revolutionary solution that would enable his son to move his pianos cheaply and without assistance, regardless of the venue, while ensuring his own safety and that of his instrument. The Klavier Roller was born.

In just over a dozen years, Klavier Roller developed a reputation as a leading brand for piano handling and transportation equipment. It has won the loyalty of piano professionals all over the world (tuners, renters, sellers, movers, etc.) as well as that of prestigious institutions (operas, music conservatories, etc.).

As is often the case, it was a fateful encounter that spurred Klavier Roller's founder to step out of the spotlight and make room for the next generation. This encounter was between Bernard Wintz and Vincent Schmitt, also an experienced engineer and entrepreneur. The two shared common origins and a strong conviction: the Klavier Roller, a product like no other, should continue to grow!

Since taking the reins, Vincent Schmitt has begun composing the new score for the Klavier Roller company, supported by his dynamic team with a passion for satisfying our clients. Our new team is proud of its roots and full of ambition, and intends to lead the Klavier Roller to the peak of its career!
